Built for practical travel functionality, the GMT-Master allows the wearer to track a second time zone using the distinctive red 24-hour hand in conjunction with the rotating bezel. This reference is powered by the Rolex Calibre 3175 automatic movement, a reliable in-house movement known for its durability and precision. The aluminium bezel insert on this example shows significant ageing, with the red section fading into a pink tone, creating the distinctive patina highly sought after by collectors.
A 1997 example, supplied boxed and certified, and accompanied by authenticity paperwork, this GMT-Master represents one of the final years of production for the reference before Rolex discontinued the model in favour of the GMT-Master II.
